A year ago I wrote about the case of the Coutts Four: Jerry Morin, Anthony “Tony” Olienick, Chris Carbert and Chris Lysak. The four participated in the Coutts Blockade, part of the Freedom Convoy protests of the Canadian government’s mandate to require COVID-19 vaccination of all truck drivers who entered Canada. The consequence for a truck driver who didn’t get vaccinated prior to entering Canada, was to be quarantined (between 10 to 14 days). Such constraints would limit an unvaccinated driver to having at most 2 to 3 trips a month, making it impossible to earn a living. By January 2022, according to Health Canada’s own website several hundred Canadians had died as a direct consequence of taking the mRNA vaccines. It was also known, according to public statements by CDC Director Rochelle Wolensky, on August 6, 2021, with CNNs’ Wolf Blitzer, that the vaccines in question did not prevent infection OR stop transmission. Protesters, including physicians and scientists, questioned the claims of the government and wanted to have a public debate about the mandate policies.
Next week a jury will reach a verdict regarding the guilt or innocence of Chris Carbert and Tony Olienick, known as the Coutts Two. By that time, Carbert and Olienick will have been in custody without bail for over 900 days.
Here is the article I wrote in late July 2023: “Coutts Four Denied Bail, in Prison in Canada for over 500 Days without Trial. Are they Political Prisoners?“
